The first fossil I ever found was really cool and an animal most people don’t know about becasue it’s been extinct for a really long time. It was a graptolite, these are single celled animals. The reason they’re so interesting is becasue they lived in tiny colonies, where little groups of them worked together to build structures around themselves to live in. They look like sticks (a couple of cm long) with little pockets on, each cell lives in a pocket. They floated around in the oceans, carried by the currents. There are some rocks where you can find thousands and thousands of them!
