When I was little I used to look for fossils in rocks near the beach with my Dad so I’ve always thought they were cool, but I didn’t realise that I could study them until much later. When I went to university I did a degree in ‘Natural scienes’ which means that you do loads of different science subjects, one of them was paleontology (the fancy name for studying fossils and evolution) and I really liked it. Then when we had to choose our own research to do for the first time the most interesting project to choose was one where I had to find out a way to work out exactly how big the brains of extinct animals were and that was when I decided.
