I really like David Attenborough because he is very interested in animals and geology like me, he is also very good at explaining science to people, plus he gets to go to lots of really amazing places.
My favourite scientist who did research all the time was Stephen Jay Gould, he studied evolution and he came up with lots of very important ideas about how it worked. People didn’t always agree with him but he challenged their views and made them think about their ideas which is very important. He was also good at explaining science to other people.
Gosh – I’m not really sure if I have a favourite living scientist as there are so many of them who inspire me and who I would like to learn more from!
So I will say my all time favourite is Alexander Fleming, who discovered the antibiotic penicillin. He only found it by an accident when one of his experiments got contaminated, but the discovery has ended up changing the way we are treated for infections forever – a pretty amazing outcome for a laboratory mistake I think 🙂
