Good question, if you mean the material that a lifeform is made from that is best for getting fossilised then I think it would have to be enamel, that teeth are made from. This is really really hard so it doesn’t get broken up or anything over time. You might be surprised to know that a lot of the animals that we know used to be alive we have only ever found teeth from! No bones or anything, just teeth, and that’s how we know they existed.

The best material that makes the rock that fossils are in is volcanic ash. A lot of times when a volcano has erupted the ash falls to the ground and it buries all the things that are living there really suddenly so they die, but they stay perfectly in one piece. Millions of years later we dig them up and you can see fossils in ash where you can still see where all their soft body bits were like skin or feathers. These are very special and rare fossils because they are often so perfect.

However you can make fossils of almost any material, even poos can get fossilised!
