For my GCSEs I did separate science, maths, English, geography, PE, history, music and Spanish. For A-levels I did Maths, further maths, biology, physics and then AS levels in philosophy and critical thinking.
I’m really glad that I did philosophy as well so that I wasn’t just doing sciency subjects. Maths is very important to do for lots of jobs so I’m glad I did lots of that too. It was very hard for me to decide though, there are so many subjects to choose from and I liked them all!
I was in Scotland, so my exams were a bit different. At standard grade level ( similar to GSCE) I did maths, english, biology, chemistry, modern studies, craft and design and something else, but I can’t remember what it was (so presumably I didn’t like it much…it might have been french, I wasn’t much good at that!). At higher level (similar to A-levels, but you normally do more Highers than you would A-levels), I did Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, Modern Studies and Geography. Then I did sixth year studies (which I presume is similar to AS level) in Biology and maths.
I did mine some 25 years ago! I took Maths, English language, English lit, French. Geography, Business Studies, Biology, and Chemistry. I didn’t do A levels, I did an Access to Science course instead. And that course covered Maths, IT, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
I really enjoyed the Maths, I very nearly did a Maths and Physics degree.
