It wasn’t really no, when I was at school my science lessons were often not very interesting, I found science really interesting but not the lessons. We didn’t get to do fun stuff like I’m a Scientist like you guys do, although I did like doing all the experiments. My favourite subject was PE I think.
My favourite subject was music. I had the most amazing music teacher, he put on a record (google it!) and his eyes would bulge out of his head in excitement of being paid to play his favourite tunes. He introduced me to the same music I like today, some 28 years on.
I also really liked German, I found I had a talent with learning languages and seemed to pick it up quite easily. I didn’t take it at GCSE, which is a shame really as I did end up living in Germany for 3 years.
I didn’t like history at all, it was so dull and boring and didn’t take it for GCSE. But now I really do enjoy history, and history of science in particular, as well as social history and I read a lot about social history. And I think it’s kind of ironic that my eldest son adores history and want to read history at univerisity and maybe be a history teacher whereas I used to hate it at school.
