Yeah I really enjoy my job, I love working with my hands and actually doing real science. I think if I was the kind of scientist who just put things on a machine and walked away, I’d be really bored. But in my discipline, we have to do the work with our own hands and it’s fun.

I really like the fact that my job makes people better because can help to provide a diagnosis, and then the clinicians can work out how best to treat the patient so they recover. It’s real science, that affects a real person. That could be my mum, my best mate, or me!!

Yes I really enjoy my job, it’s a lot of fun. It’s the most fun when I get to go do fieldwork, we go on long hikes and investigate the rocks we see and look for fossils. I also have a lot of fun when I go to museums to look at the fossils other people have found, I get to go behind the scenes and see lots of cool stuff that other people don’t get to see.

Yes, I definitely think it is fun! I get to do fieldwork which I love – visiting different countries and learning more about the diseases that I am studying. Fieldwork in Africa can be tricky, but it is really great fun – the scenery, the wildlife, the people!

Once when I was on fieldwork with someone that I work with, on the weekend we went to a national park in Uganda. We spotted a lion! It had a dead gazelle or something, and it sat under a tree to eat it – it was only about 3 meters away from us. But my friend was hanging out the window to look at it, and when he got back into the car, he sat on the horn!!! I couldn’t believe it, but luckily the lion didn’t move a muscle, it just carried on with its meal.
