I haven’t always no. Since I started my PhD and doing research by myself that’s mostly what I’ve done. Before that though I measured and studied animals that are still alive today as well! My first degree included lots of different subjects (biology, physics, geology, philosphy) so I’ve worked with lots of different things. I think it’s really important to have a broad understanding of science, it’s definitely helped me, even now when my work is much more specific. Plus it means I get to learn about loads of different things so I don’t get bored.
